Quote FAQs

Is SaunaIndex free to use?

Yes, and nothing on this site is ever charged to a property owner. A listing is free too, and no company can buy a better position: the order on every list comes from a published formula, and there is no advertising slot on this site. When you send this form, we pass your job to one of the highest-scoring companies listed in your area so they can quote it.

Who will contact me after I submit?

One sauna company. We read what comes in and pass your name, phone number and description of the job to one of the highest-scoring companies listed in your area, and they call you about it. Your details are not published, not sold, and not sent to a list of companies to fight over. Our privacy policy sets out exactly how your information is handled, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Indoor or outdoor, and does it change the price much?

It changes it a great deal, which is why the form asks first. An indoor sauna is usually a room built inside space you already have, so the cost sits in the heater, the benches and the cedar. An outdoor sauna is a small building: it needs a base, weatherproofing and a power run from the house, and that power run is the line item that surprises people most often. Say which one you want and roughly how far the nearest panel is, and the quote you get back will be closer to real.

Do I need an electrician as well?

Almost certainly, for anything other than a plug-in infrared cabin. A traditional electric heater at the size most people want needs its own circuit, and in Ontario that is work for a licensed electrician with a permit. Some sauna companies include it and some expect you to arrange it, so ask which you are getting before you compare two prices that look different. We do not check licences ourselves.

How do you choose which company gets my request?

By the same published score that sets the order of every list on this site, filtered to companies that work in your area and do the kind of work you described. Nobody pays to be picked, and no company can raise their own score by submitting anything to us. We do not check licences, insurance or WSIB coverage, so ask for those before you sign anything.
