Sauna Calculators for Ontario Rooms
Last updated: By The SaunaIndex Bench
10 calculators, each one built on a rule somebody published and linked rather than on a figure that sounded about right. The sizing tools read manufacturer data sheets and installation manuals. The cost tools read the Ontario Energy Board's own rate table and the Canadian price pages already researched for this site's cost guides. Where two sources disagree, every tool here shows the band they span instead of quietly splitting the difference.

Sizing and planning
Work out what the room needs before anybody quotes it: heater output, bench layout, airflow and how long it will take to come up to temperature.
For a buyer
Sauna heater size calculator
Room volume to kilowatts, including the manufacturer's allowance for glass that most calculators skip, plus a check on whether a heater you have picked is oversized.

Sauna size and bench planner
Sizes the room by bench run rather than floor area: seats per tier, whether anybody can lie flat, and whether a stepped bench fits front to back.

Sauna heat-up time
Published heat-up ranges describe a correctly sized heater. This scales them by the ratio between what your room asks for and what you actually fitted.

Sauna ventilation planner
Runs both published airflow rules, by room volume and by bather, and tells you which one is actually governing your room. Plus where the two vents go.

What it costs
Figures traced to named Canadian price pages and to the Ontario Energy Board's published electricity rates, never to a plausible-looking average.
For a self-builder
Sauna running cost
Prices the same usage on every published Ontario rate at once, because the same 1,248 kWh a year costs $48.67 or $487.97 depending only on the hour.

Home sauna cost calculator
Assemble a real quote line by line: the unit, the labour, the 240V circuit and the extras, each priced from a named Canadian source, with HST on top.

Comparing two options
The same room, measured once, sized and costed both ways, so the choice between two builds is a number rather than an adjective.
For a buyer
Electric vs wood-burning heater
Sizes both off the same room volume, then puts a chimney against a 240V circuit. The wood column carries no dollar figure, and the page explains why.

Infrared vs traditional
The two are sold in different units, so this puts both into dollars a month: a computed heater cost against a supplier's own published monthly figure.

Indoor vs outdoor sauna cost
Builds both projects from the same researched rows and shows where the two totals cross: outdoors dearer at the low end, cheaper at the high end.

Sauna vs steam room
Measure one room once and see it sized both ways: heater kilowatts against steam generator kilowatts, and what a session costs on each at Ontario rates.

How to read a result from any of these
Every calculator on SaunaIndex shows its working, because a single confident number with nothing under it is not checkable and should not be trusted. Each one names the rule it applied, the source that published that rule, and the arithmetic in between. Where a manufacturer's chart runs out, the tool stops and says so rather than extending the last row, and where no source publishes a figure at all, the tool says that too instead of filling the gap.
Two limits worth knowing before you take a result to a company. Electricity figures are the energy line of a bill only, at the Ontario Energy Board's regulated price: delivery, regulatory charges and 13% HST are all on top. And a calculator sizes equipment, not a project. The framing, the insulation, the vapour barrier, the drain and the electrical run are most of what a real quote covers, and none of them are things a room measurement can tell you.
