Sauna companies that also do cold plunges

Last updated: By The SaunaIndex Bench

How many companies handle both?

Most of the cold plunge sellers in this index are sauna companies. Of the 39 companies, 38 sit in the Saunas category and 22 in Cold Plunge & Ice Baths. Those two counts cover 60 placements across 39 businesses, so 21 companies hold both, and one company can often cover both purchases.

The arithmetic is the whole answer, so it is worth doing slowly. Saunas holds 38 companies and Cold Plunge & Ice Baths holds 22, which makes 60 category placements over an index of 39 businesses. Every listing carries at least one category, so the 21 extra placements have to be companies counted twice. That leaves 21 companies in both categories, 17 in Saunas alone and 1 in Cold Plunge & Ice Baths alone.

That last figure is the odd one. Ice Works Bath Co., filed under Newmarket, is the single record placed in the plunge category without also being placed in Saunas. Every other company selling a cold tub in this index is a sauna business first, so somebody searching only for a plunge will still end up contacting sauna companies, and the search term they started with has almost no effect on the list they end up with.

Run the same arithmetic from the other direction and it holds. Of the 22 companies in the plunge category, 21 also sit in Saunas, so a shortlist built by filtering for cold plunge work is, with one exception, a subset of the sauna shortlist rather than a separate list. Specialists, in the sense of businesses doing only this, are one record out of 39.

Why is the overlap that wide?

Both products can be sold off the same floor. A showroom that stocks barrel shells, heaters, benches and cedar already has the space, the freight and the delivery crew a tub needs. The site's Cold Plunge & Ice Baths page describes the category as tubs supplied, plumbed and chilled, including contrast setups paired with a sauna, and that pairing is the shape of the market here.

The practical requirements line up too. A backyard sauna needs a level base, a delivery route with enough clearance and power from the panel. A chilled plunge tub needs a level base, a delivery route and power. A company that has solved those problems for one product has solved most of them for the other. The Saunas category and the plunge category are separate on this site because the products are separate, and the overlap in the data suggests the businesses are organised around both.

The Google Maps labels make the point sharper. All 21 records Google labels Sauna store sit in the Cold Plunge & Ice Baths category, and the 22nd company there, Ice Works Bath Co., carries the label Manufacturer. Not one of the nine labels in use names a cold plunge business: after 21 Sauna store and 10 Sauna come 2 Manufacturer, then a single record each for Steel fabricator, General contractor, Bathroom remodeler, Furniture store, Carpenter and Electrician. No separate cold plunge trade appears in this market as its own group of businesses. What the labels show is a sauna retail trade that carries a second product line.

What does a combined quote have to cover?

A sauna quote and a plunge quote answer different questions, and a combined quote has to answer both without blurring them. On the sauna side: the shell or the room, the heater, the stones, the door and the circuit. On the plunge side the vessel is only the start. SaunaFin (Concord, ON) lists cedar plunge tubs starting at $4,390 in knotty cedar and $4,785 in clear cedar, and the same supplier lists a 0.75 HP, 7,500 BTU/hr water chiller starting at $3,085 as a separate item. Those are two lines, and a quote naming only the first cannot be compared with a quote naming both.

Ask for the split in writing. Accessories move a total as well: Hot Tub Outlet (Canada) prices a cold tub sanitizer kit at $142.50 and a 36 inch round plunge lid at $279.50, each as its own item. The number that matters is the one with every line on it, and getting there takes a specific request rather than a general one.

What has to be decided before either quote can be written

A supplier covering both products still needs the same set of answers before it can price anything, and having them ready shortens the process. Where does each unit go, indoors or outdoors? What is underneath each one? How does each travel from a truck to that spot, and what has to come off a fence or a gate for that to happen? What capacity does the electrical panel have left, since a sauna heater and a chiller both draw power?

Drainage is the one people leave until last. A plunge tub holds water that eventually has to leave, through a drain, a pump or a hose out a door, and the answer changes depending on whether the tub sits on a deck, on a slab or in a basement. The sauna in the same pairing has a different requirement again: ventilation, and in some builds a floor drain of its own. RenoHouse (Toronto) lists a floor drain for a basement sauna, where one applies, at $1,200 to $3,500, the sort of line that appears late and moves a total. Settling all of this before the quote is written stops the number moving after it has been accepted.

What the index cannot tell you about combined work

The categories record what the index found about each business. They do not confirm that a company will quote both products on one job, that it has done so before, or that it does the plunge work itself rather than passing it to somebody else. There is no record of completed jobs anywhere in this dataset, and no timelines, warranty terms or licence status for any of the 39 companies.

Contact data is thin in places too. Websites appear on 30 of the 39 records, so 9 companies have no page where a plunge range could be checked first, and email appears on none. The index holds a phone number for 38 of the 39, but a profile shows it only once the company claims its listing, and none has so far. A company's own website is the direct route to it; the request form on each profile reaches SaunaIndex, which passes it on to one company listed in your area. Coldture, ELU - Saunas & Cold Tubs, ThermaCraft and The Toronto Sauna Co. are among the companies carrying both categories, and what that means in practice still has to be confirmed with each of them.

The gap that matters most is between selling and installing. A category placement can come from a product page, and a product page shows that a company will sell a tub. It does not show that the same company will site it, plumb it, wire it or come back when the chiller stops. Those are four separate commitments, and the index records none of them. Ask which of the four the company does with its own people and which it subcontracts, then ask who handles it when something fails.

How to read a listing before getting in touch

Start with the category pair, because it is the quickest filter available. A record placed in both categories has described both product lines somewhere the index could see it. A record in Saunas alone has not, and asking it about a plunge is a guess. That single check removes 17 of the 39 companies from a plunge shortlist before any contact is made.

Then look at what else the record carries. Of the 22 companies in the plunge category, 19 have a website, where a product range can be read before any conversation, and 14 carry a Google rating. A rating is a public track record of some size, though a thin one for half the rated companies in this index, since the median review count across its 29 rated companies is 12. An address means a floor that can be visited, and 36 of the 39 companies have one. None of those fields describes combined jobs, which is why the first conversation should ask about them directly. The cold plunge buying guide names the plunge sellers in the two busiest areas.

What the two purchases cost separately

Keeping the two budgets apart makes a combined quote readable. On the sauna side, SaunaFin (Concord, ON) says its smallest saunas, seating 1 to 2 people, cost just over $2,000, and that saunas seating 6 to 8 range from $8,000 to $12,000. On the plunge side, Calore Health and Wellness lists a portable, unchilled tub from $799 and a premium cold plunge with an integrated chiller at $10,250. Those two plunge figures sit further apart than SaunaFin's whole sauna range.

Running costs also arrive separately. Calore Health and Wellness puts the electricity to run a chiller cold plunge at about $1,500 to $4,500 over five years and filters and ozone consumables at about $600 to $1,800 over the same period, a bill that keeps arriving after the install crew has gone. The cold plunge cost guide sets out the full price ladder from those sources, the sauna kit and heater guide covers what a kit price includes, and the sauna or cold plunge guide compares the two when only one fits the budget.

Frequently asked questions

Do sauna companies also sell cold plunges?

Most of the ones in this index are placed in both categories. 38 of the 39 companies sit in Saunas and 22 in Cold Plunge & Ice Baths, and since every listing holds at least one category, 21 companies hold both. A category placement records what the index found about a company. It is not a guarantee of what that company will quote.

Is it cheaper to buy a sauna and a plunge from one company?

The index holds no quote data, so it cannot answer that. What it can say is that a single supplier covering both removes one coordination problem: two deliveries, two electrical requirements and two sets of clearances land with the same party. Whether that shows up as a lower number depends on the quote, and nothing here measures discounts.

Does one company in the index do cold plunges only?

Yes, one. Ice Works Bath Co., filed under Newmarket, is the single listing in Cold Plunge & Ice Baths without the Saunas category, the exception across 39 records. The other 21 companies in that category also carry Saunas, and they are the same 21 records Google labels Sauna store, so a plunge search here almost always leads back to a sauna business.

What does the index know about combined sauna and plunge jobs?

Very little, and it is better to say so. There is no record of completed jobs, no timelines, no warranty terms and no licence status for any of the 39 companies. The categories say what the index found about each business. Everything about how a combined job runs, from siting to who handles a failed chiller, has to come from the company in writing.
